PHOENIX (May 13, 2025) – The MJ Companies, a leading financial services firm for over 60 years, successfully hosted its annual MJ Foundation fundraiser last week at Electric Pickle in Tempe. The event brought together over 100 industry partners, employees and friends, and raised over $100,000 through a fun-filled pickleball tournament.
“The MJ Companies exists to inspire the success, fulfillment, and wellbeing of our associates and their families, business partners, clients, and our community,” said Michael H. Bill, CEO of The MJ Companies and Founder of The MJ Foundation. “To see so many people come together for a fun, competitive day on the courts—all in the spirit of giving back—is incredibly rewarding. We’re deeply grateful for our partners and participants who share our belief in the power of community and purpose-driven action.”
The funds raised will be used to award grants and support local organizations in alignment with the four cornerstones of the MJ Foundation mission: overcoming poverty, advancing education, fostering diversity and embracing humanity.
To create an even broader impact, $10,000 was donated to the chosen non-profit(s) selected by each winning team from every bracket. Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation and Hospice of the Valley were chosen.
“The tournament was a huge success—it was a fun-filled day where we were able to come together to support a worthy cause,” said Britni Shrout, CMO, at MJ and executive director of the MJ Foundation. “We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our sponsors including, Cigna, United Healthcare, CopperPoint Insurance, Innovative Captive Strategies, SwissRe, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Voya, Aetna, MetLife Delta Dental, Alight, BenefitFocus, Chubb, Unum, Nelligan, Pacific Life, and Lincoln Financial for their invaluable support in making this event possible.”
