The MJ Foundation Awards Three $25,000 Grants to Local Non-Profits in Indianapolis, Phoenix, and Denver

INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 14, 2025) – The MJ Charitable Foundation (the MJ Foundation), has awarded three $25,000 grants to non-profits in the Indianapolis, Phoenix, and Denver communities, including Dayspring Center, Saving Army, and ActivateWork. The MJ Foundation is the nonprofit arm of leading financial services firm, The MJ Companies.

Dayspring Center, Saving Army, and ActivateWork were selected in part for their alignment with the four cornerstones of the MJ Foundation mission: overcoming poverty, fostering diversity, advancing education, and embracing humanity.

Each of these nonprofits are addressing unique needs in their local communities. The grant dollars will go towards supporting homeless children and families, providing compassionate care to families in crisis, and providing critical training and job attainment support to marginalized groups.

The grant process is invitation-only; more than 45 nonprofits were invited and applied in this grant cycle. Each of the invited nonprofits were organizations where MJ associates choose to volunteer their time.

“The three chosen organizations align with the MJ Foundation’s pillars and our purpose to be an intentional, active force for good in our communities,” said Britini Shrout, executive director of the MJ Foundation. “We look forward to watching how this funding will empower each organization to further its mission, and the impact it will make within our communities.”

In addition to the MJ Foundation’s grants, The MJ Companies associates also raised over $33,000 through the Foundation’s Triple Match Day last December. During the Triple Match Day, MJ contributed three dollars for every one dollar donated to the campaign.

MJ associates surpassed the internal fundraising goal of $5,000 within four hours of launching the campaign. The Foundation’s 2023-2025 Charities of Choice, Dayspring Center (Indianapolis), The Center’s for Habilitation (Phoenix) and Women’s Bean Project (Denver), received the funds raised during the Triple Match Day.

“We are grateful for the incredible impact the MJ team made during our Triple Match Day and throughout the Month of Giving campaign,” said Shrout. “MJ has long been a committed community partner, and this latest campaign has shown just how big of an impact our associates can and do have.”

The Triple Match Day was part of the Foundation’s Month of Giving campaign. The campaign ran throughout December, providing an opportunity for MJ associates from across the nation to come together during the holiday season and give back to their communities. Associates were given a variety of ways to get involved in their local communities, from days of service to gifts and toy drives.
